Privacy Policy
Last updated: 28 September 2026
Sauri Check helps importers verify suppliers before they send money. To do that, we handle some information about you and about the suppliers you ask us to check. This policy explains what we collect, why we collect it, who we share it with, how long we keep it, and the choices and rights you have.
1. Who we are
Sauri Check is a service operated by Sauri Logistics Nigeria ("Sauri Check", "we", "us" or "our"). We are the data controller responsible for the personal information described in this policy.
Sauri Logistics NigeriaTimipre Sylva Crescent, Mabushi
Abuja, FCT, Nigeria
Email: support@sauricheck.com
We process personal information in line with the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 (NDPA) and the regulations and guidance of the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC). Where you use our services from outside Nigeria, we also aim to respect the data protection laws that apply to you.
2. Scope of this policy
This policy applies to information we collect through:
- our website at sauricheck.com, including the waitlist sign-up form;
- the Sauri Check app and web platform, including your account and profile;
- our WhatsApp service, through which we deliver supplier reports and updates;
- email, phone and social media conversations with our team.
It does not cover the websites or services of third parties, including the suppliers you ask us to check. Our blog at blog.sauricheck.com may display its own notices about comments and cookies.
3. Information we collect
Information you give us
- Account and contact details: the WhatsApp/phone number or email address you sign up with, and optionally your name, business name, city and the type of goods you import.
- Waitlist details: the email address or WhatsApp number you submit to join our waitlist.
- Supplier check requests: information about the suppliers you want verified, such as company names, Unified Social Credit Codes (USCC), business licence images, contracts, invoices, pro forma invoices, bank details supplied by the supplier, website or marketplace links, and screenshots of your conversations with the supplier. If these documents contain personal information about other people (for example, a supplier's sales contact), you should only share them where you are entitled to do so.
- Communications: messages you send us by WhatsApp, email or social media, and any feedback you give.
Information created when you use Sauri Check
- Reports and history: the supplier reports we produce for you and the history of checks you have requested.
- Transaction records: the plan you purchased, amount, date, and payment reference. Card and bank details are entered directly with our third-party payment processors; we do not see or store your full card number.
Information collected automatically
- Technical data: IP address, browser and device type, operating system, pages visited, and referring pages.
- Approximate location: we look up your approximate country from your IP address so we can pre-select the right dialling code on our sign-up form. We do not collect your precise location.
- Cookies and analytics: see Cookies and analytics below.
4. How we use your information
We only use personal information where we have a lawful basis to do so under the NDPA. The table below explains our purposes and the basis we rely on for each.
| Purpose | Lawful basis |
|---|---|
| Creating and managing your account, and signing you in | Performance of a contract |
| Carrying out supplier checks and delivering your reports by WhatsApp, email or in the app | Performance of a contract |
| Processing payments, issuing receipts and handling refunds | Performance of a contract; legal obligation |
| Answering your questions and providing customer support | Performance of a contract; legitimate interests |
| Notifying waitlist members when we launch | Consent |
| Sending tips, scam alerts, product news and offers | Consent (you can opt out at any time) |
| Preventing fraud, spam and abuse (for example, limiting repeated sign-ups from one network) | Legitimate interests |
| Understanding how our website and service are used, and improving them | Legitimate interests; consent where required for cookies |
| Complying with tax, accounting and other legal requirements, and responding to lawful requests from authorities | Legal obligation |
We do not use your personal information to make decisions about you that have legal or similarly significant effects based solely on automated processing. Our reports assess suppliers, not you.
5. WhatsApp and marketing messages
WhatsApp is our main way of delivering reports and service updates. When you sign up with your WhatsApp number, we will message you about your account, your checks and your reports.
We will only send you marketing messages (such as scam alerts, importing tips and offers) if you have agreed to receive them. You can stop them at any time by replying STOP on WhatsApp, clicking "unsubscribe" in any marketing email, or emailing support@sauricheck.com. Opting out of marketing will not stop messages we need to send about your account or reports.
WhatsApp is operated by WhatsApp LLC / Meta Platforms, which processes messages under its own terms and privacy policy.
7. International transfers
Some of our service providers (for example, hosting, messaging and analytics providers) are located outside Nigeria, so your information may be processed in other countries. Supplier checks also involve looking up information in China and other supplier countries; these lookups use supplier information, not your personal details.
When we transfer personal information outside Nigeria, we do so in line with the NDPA, relying on safeguards such as the recipient country's adequate level of protection, contractual protections with our providers, or your consent where appropriate.
8. How long we keep information
We keep personal information only for as long as we need it for the purposes described in this policy:
- Account information and reports: for as long as your account is active. When you remove your account, we delete or anonymise this information within 30 days.
- Transaction and payment records: up to 6 years after the transaction, as required by Nigerian tax and accounting laws.
- Waitlist details: until we launch and notify you, or until you ask us to remove you, whichever comes first. If you create an account, your waitlist entry is merged into your account.
- Support messages: up to 2 years after the conversation ends, unless they relate to a dispute we need to keep records of.
- Backups: deleted information may remain in secure backups for up to 90 days before it is overwritten.
We may keep anonymised, aggregated information (which no longer identifies you) for longer, for example to understand scam trends.
9. How we protect information
We use technical and organisational measures appropriate to the risk, including encrypted connections (HTTPS), access controls that limit staff access to those who need it, restricted access to stored files, and spam and rate limiting on our forms. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. If a personal data breach occurs that is likely to put your rights at risk, we will notify the NDPC and, where required, you, in line with the NDPA.
You can help protect your account by keeping access to your phone number and email secure and not sharing verification codes with anyone. Sauri Check staff will never ask you for your verification code.
10. Your rights
Under the NDPA, and subject to certain legal exceptions, you have the right to:
- Be informed about how we use your personal information (this policy);
- Access the personal information we hold about you and receive a copy;
- Correct information that is inaccurate or incomplete;
- Delete your personal information (see Deleting your account);
- Restrict or object to certain processing, including direct marketing;
- Data portability: receive information you gave us in a commonly used, machine-readable format;
- Withdraw consent at any time, where we rely on consent (this does not affect processing already carried out);
- Complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (ndpc.gov.ng) or the data protection authority where you live.
To exercise any of these rights, email support@sauricheck.com from the email address linked to your account, or message us from the WhatsApp number linked to your account. We may need to verify your identity before acting on your request. We will respond within 30 days. We do not charge a fee unless a request is clearly unfounded or excessive.
11. Deleting your account
You can remove your Sauri Check account yourself at any time from your profile. You will be asked to confirm using the phone number or email address you signed up with.
Want to delete your account? Follow our step-by-step guide, which also explains what is deleted and what we are required to keep.
13. Children
Sauri Check is a business service intended for people aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has given us personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
14. Third-party links
Our website, blog, reports and messages may contain links to third-party websites, marketplaces and social media platforms (such as Instagram, TikTok, X, Threads and Facebook). We are not responsible for how those services handle your information, so please read their privacy policies.
15. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time, for example when we launch new features. We will change the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and, if the changes are significant, we will let you know by WhatsApp, email or a notice in the app before they take effect.
